Based in the beautiful Southwest of the UK, my home recording studio was built in 2021 as a full garage conversion. It is fully sound-proofed with an incredibly low noise floor (-65db) and is acoustically treated for exceptional sound absorption and diffusion, providing crystal clear audio quality. As an added bonus, after the recent summer heatwaves here, the studio is now also fully air-conditioned, so I’m able to work for much longer periods during the summer months, without ever breaking a sweat! I also work as an audio producer, specialising in Video Game and Animation voiceover showreel production. You can find out more about my production work at www.UnreelAudio.com. Below you’ll find further information about my studio specs, as well as a list of the equipment and software I use on a day-to-day basis. You can also download raw and processed audio samples at the bottom of the page, for your own analysis and quality assurance.
I record with the industry-leading Neumann TLM103. Its pristine, clear sound is a modern update on the classic U87; it’s a transformerless cardioid condenser with a gentle presence boost for a stunningly direct sound with breathtaking definition and ultra low noise. The 103 defines the standard by which contemporary studio microphones are measured and has set new standards for technical performance, too. With an incredibly low self-noise of only 7 dB, it is one of the quietest studio microphones in the world.
The Universal Audio Apollo Solo is an industry-leading audio interface, delivering unrivalled audio conversion. The 2×4 interface starts with esteemed Apollo A/D and D/A conversion to sonically outperform almost anything else on the market. Its onboard headphone output is louder and punchier, with lower noise and flatter frequency response versus any interface in its class, which means I can confidently record, monitor and mix, knowing I’m hearing every sonic detail, for flawless, broadcast-quality audio.
